My memory foam mattress has a strong smell. Should I be concerned?
No. Vacuum-packed memory foam can have a temporary odour when first opened. Leave the mattress uncovered in a well-ventilated room and the smell should normally clear within 48 hours.
Are your mattresses fire safe?
Yes. Our mattresses comply with applicable UK fire-safety requirements and are supplied to the required safety and quality standards.
Divan Beds & Assembly
Do you offer an assembly service?
Assembly may be available for divan beds up to 5 ft king size. Flat-packed products, including divan ottomans, require self-assembly. Check the product page and delivery options for availability on your order.
Does a divan bed arrive assembled?
Small single (2 ft 6) and single (3 ft) bases usually arrive in one piece. Larger bases usually arrive in two sections. The headboard and castors or gliders need to be attached after delivery.
What is the approximate weight of a divan base?
A divan base without storage weighs approximately 40 kg. A base with drawers weighs approximately 50 kg. Exact weights can vary by model and size.
How much weight can a divan bed support?
Most divan beds are designed to support approximately 25–30 stone (158–190 kg) per side. Refer to the individual product details or contact us if you need confirmation for a particular model.
What is the storage capacity of a divan drawer?
Each drawer is approximately 60 cm long, 40 cm wide and 25 cm deep, providing useful storage for bedding, clothing and other essentials. Dimensions can vary slightly by model.
What is the total height of a divan bed with its headboard?
The typical height from the floor to the top of the headboard is approximately 100 cm. Please check the product dimensions for the exact model.
What is the height of a divan base without its headboard?
A typical divan base is approximately 35 cm (about 14 inches) high. Exact dimensions are shown on the relevant product page.
Delivery & Orders
Do you offer delivery and assembly?
Delivery and assembly are available on selected products and in selected delivery areas. Exact availability, what is included and any charge are shown at checkout or confirmed before delivery.
Can you collect my old bed or mattress?
We do not currently collect beds or mattresses that were not purchased from Hale & Hale. Your local council may offer a bulky-waste collection service.
I placed an order but have not received confirmation. What should I do?
First check your spam or junk folder and confirm that the email address entered at checkout was correct. Shopify normally sends confirmation shortly after payment is accepted. If it has not arrived after a reasonable time, contact us with your name and order details so we can investigate.
Assembly Help
The gas pistons are not working after assembly. What should I do?
With each piston securely attached to the lifting arm and frame, place the bed in the raised position. Hold both sides and apply firm, even downward pressure until you hear a click, which indicates that the mechanism has engaged. If the problem continues, stop using the mechanism and contact us for help.
